Color Pallet Selection
Color selection for your website is not an accident or matter of chance. It should follow a process. The choice of a warm, cool, bright or monochrome color scheme will have a significant effect on the perception of your website. As colors are selected, they are implemented in the style sheets, applying them to the entire site. Keeping the application of color consistent is a big challenge in the creation of a large site. There are a number of different color selection patterns with many variations.
Color
- Primary, secondary and highlight colors – these are the building blocks .
- Monochromatic – a single color with variations.
- Analogous – colors on either side of a color on the color wheel.
- Triadic – three colors that are equidistant on the color wheel.
- Tetradic – four colors that are equidistant on the color wheel.
- Complimentary – colors that are on the opposite sides of the color wheel.
- Split Complimentary – a color and the analogous colors of its complimentary color.
Selection
- Color blindness is a consideration, since about 8% of the population suffers from some form of color blindness.
